Office Interior Design That Works: Inside Jingdong’s Brand-Led Workspace

Great office interior design does more than make a space look good. It turns a company’s identity into a daily working environment. In the Jingdong project, KNS Archipelago, a specialist in professional office interior design and fit-out in Indonesia, translated a bold brand color into a workplace that is functional, structured, and welcoming. This article walks through the key design decisions and what they mean for companies planning their own office fit-out.

Designing the Lobby Around Brand Identity

The first impression of any office happens at the reception, so the lobby carries the heaviest branding load. Here, a backlit red glass wall forms the focal point, with the company logo mounted in three-dimensional white lettering. The red is the brand’s own color, which makes the entrance instantly recognizable.

The supporting materials stay deliberately quiet. A marble-look reception desk, white walls, warm wood-tone flooring, and a simple black lounge sofa let the red wall do the talking. This is a practical principle in corporate office design: use one strong brand element, then keep everything around it neutral so the space does not feel overwhelming.

Open-Plan Workspace: Built for Daily Productivity

The main work area follows a clear, efficient logic. Long white workstations are grouped in rows, with grey partition screens separating each user, mobile pedestal drawers for personal storage, and ergonomic mesh-back chairs. Modular carpet tiles cover the working zone, while a wood-look flooring strip marks the circulation path.

This approach delivers three things growing companies need:

  • Scalability: Workstation clusters can be added or reconfigured as headcount changes.

  • Comfort: Carpet tiles help soften noise and are easy to replace section by section.

  • Clarity: Different flooring materials separate walkways from desks without adding walls.

Neutral grey and white tones keep the workspace calm and let the brand color appear only where it matters.

Meeting Room: Where Brand Meets Function

The meeting room brings the red accent back, this time as a feature wall behind a large display screen. A long wood-finish table seats a full team, and recessed linear lighting gives even illumination across the room. The red-and-grey striped carpet tiles tie the floor to the same color palette.

The result is a room that supports presentations and video conferencing while staying consistent with the lobby. Consistency across spaces is what separates a designed office from a simply furnished one.

The Pantry: A Space for Informal Connection

Modern offices need places where employees can step away from their desks. The pantry uses rust-orange upholstered chairs around round tables with light wood tops and black pedestal bases. A raised counter with high stools adds a second seating style for quick breaks or informal discussions.

Large windows bring in city views, and roller blinds allow light and glare control throughout the day. The grey stone-look flooring is durable and easy to maintain, which matters in a high-traffic area. The orange tone also bridges the red of the brand and the neutral palette, giving the room warmth without competing with the lobby.

The Tea Room: Adding Cultural Character

The tea room is the most distinctive space in the project. Cream wall panels with walnut-colored trim, a slatted walnut cabinet, and a landscape artwork inspired by traditional ink painting create a calm, refined atmosphere. A cream sofa, soft grey chairs, and a coffee table with a natural stone-pattern top complete the setting.

This room shows how office interior design can reflect a company’s cultural background and hospitality values. It works well for receiving guests, hosting informal talks, or giving staff a quiet place to reset.

Why Fit-Out Quality Matters

Visual design is only part of a successful office project. Good fit-out depends on how well materials, furniture, lighting, and layout are coordinated and delivered. In this project, several decisions reflect that discipline:

  1. A single brand color used with restraint, repeated in the lobby, meeting room, and pantry accents.

  2. Durable, easy-maintenance finishes such as carpet tiles and vinyl-type flooring.

  3. Clear zoning between reception, work, meeting, and social areas.

  4. Lighting and window treatment planned for both productivity and comfort.

For companies in Indonesia, these details directly affect long-term running costs, employee comfort, and how clients perceive the business.

Planning Your Own Office Interior

If you are planning a new office or renovating an existing one, start with these questions:

  • What does your brand need visitors to feel in the first ten seconds?

  • How many people will work here now and in three years?

  • Which areas need privacy, and which should encourage collaboration?

  • Which materials balance appearance, durability, and budget?

Answering these early prevents expensive changes during construction.
